Our 63rd season includes eight weeks of performances under the leadership of Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles
The 2024 season features eclectic orchestral and chamber music performances, Gateway series concerts, special events, outdoor concerts, the continuation of GTMF’s opera initiative and free community events.
Guest artists include violinists Augustin Hadelich and Jennifer Koh, pianists Michelle Cann and Anna Geniushene, vocalists Heidi Stober and Capathia Jenkins, Third Coast Percussion, Sérgio and Clarice Assad, Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn, and many more.
Special events include a recital by pianist Garrick Ohlsson and an evening with world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma in celebration of the 50th anniversary of our beloved home, Walk Festival Hall. Intermezzo is the middle element in a Richard Strauss trilogy, in which director Tobias Kratzer shines a spotlight on phases in the trajectory of a relationship. Following on from Arabella, which explored the difficulties of courtship, Intermezzo studies the “wearisome lowlands.”

With its claim of explaining the world through its sheer expanse across time, Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung) is the greatest challenge for any opera director. At the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Stefan Herheim is taking on the task of translating the mindset of Wagner’s tetralogy into the 21st century.
